Prairie Business Law Collaboration
The Prairie Business Law Collaboration (PBLC) initiative is dedicated to strengthening rural and First Nations communities across the Canadian Prairies through the provision of legal services, and in particular business law. Grounded in the access to justice concept that Justice Grows Here, PBLC is intended to connect legal education, research, and practice to address gaps in access to legal expertise and support local economic development. Building on early engagement with rural practitioners, the Collaboration is developing innovative programming—including a collaborative law course, conferences, and a mentorship and resource network—to prepare future lawyers to serve where they are most needed. Through partnerships across universities, professions, and Indigenous communities, PBLC will help build a more connected, responsive, and resilient Prairie legal landscape.
