Mission
Our mission is to prepare future lawyers to understand business in a meaningful and practical way. We equip students with the knowledge, skills, and judgment needed to support private enterprises across the Prairies and beyond. Through experiential opportunities such as the Vickar Business Law Clinic, Business Law Group, collaborations with industry partners, and research projects within the Accelerator, we help students engage with the legal, economic, and social dimensions of business. Our goal is to graduate thoughtful, principled lawyers who can serve clients with integrity and who will help shape the future of business law in Manitoba.
Vision
Our vision is to build a stronger business law ecosystem by connecting legal education with the evolving needs of private enterprise. We aim to cultivate a community that sparks new ideas, accelerates student and faculty innovation, and helps launch projects with provincial and national impact. We turn ideas into reality through initiatives such as the Canadian Forum on Business and Human Rights, the AI Research Lab, and student-led ventures supported through the Desautels Accelerator. We also seek to position Manitoba as a technological hub by embracing research on emerging technologies, including AI, and supporting innovation within private enterprise. Ultimately, we strive to contribute to strong, sustainable, and forward-looking business communities across Manitoba and beyond.
