LLM
Master of Laws (LLM):
Where Legal Thought Grows
The Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of Manitoba offers two flexible pathways: thesis-based and course-based. The program supports advanced legal study and research. It suits students who want to deepen their legal knowledge, strengthen research skills, and develop focused expertise for careers in practice, policy, or academia.
Applicants do not need a JD or LLB. The program considers law-adjacent degrees and relevant professional experience. Students from across Canada and around the world choose Winnipeg to pursue an LLM focused on private enterprise and the law. They work closely with faculty members connected to the Desautels Business Law Accelerator.
LLM research at the University of Manitoba addresses current issues in private and commercial enterprise. Research topics include financial technology and business financing. Scholars also examine alternative dispute resolution in business transactions and developments in corporate restructuring. The University of Manitoba Libraries preserve and provide access to this research.
